Reverend Mallery Callahan was born July 31, 1952, to Mr. Alfred Callahan and the late Mrs. Verna Callahan. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Geraldine Collins and to this union three daughters and two sons were born. Rochelle, Shawn, Dawn, Mallery II and Matthew Callahan, respectively. He is a PROUD grandfather of three. Reverend Callahan has dedicated his life to the church for more than 28 years. This having afforded him to learn much about God and His purpose for his life. He has invested much time to school and personal study so that he would grow as a Christian. It has been important for him to learn from other matured Christians and Pastors. His loving and devoted wife of 33 years has been an inspiration as well as his children. His dedication to the Church can be seen in him as Pastor and in local, state and national Church organizations, He has pastored Hopewell Baptist Church of Madisonville, for 30 years, in which he led the Church in growth and spiritual development. Presently pastoring Greater Starlight Baptist Church of Covington, Louisiana, and Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church of Franklinton, Louisiana. While at Starlight, he was instrumental in completion of two Building Projects, secured several grants to purchase computers and set up a Computer Lab, After-School Tutorial Program, organized a Drill Team, and is the founder and administrator of the Kiddie Kollege Day Care Center of Covington. Dr. Callahan was elected Moderator of the Third District Bouge Chitto Association. He is the 1st. Vice-President of the Louisiana Home and Foreign Mission Baptist State Convention, a member of the National Baptist Missionary Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Congress, Third District Bogue Chitto Association and a former instructor of the Christian Bible College of Louisiana. Serving in the Community: Board Chairman of the Greater Starlight Baptist Church; Board Member of the Habitat for Humanity, Southeast Louisiana Red Cross, P. & S. Home Health Agency, and the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Executive Director of New Start Development; Former Board Member of Hospice of St. Tammany Parish and Alpha House Adult Day Care; Chaplin of the St. Tammany Parish Coroners Office; Advisor to St. Tammany Parish Jr. Deputy Program; Appointed Honorary Deputy Sheriff and Secretary of State; Elected St. Tammany Parish Democratic Committee. On top of ALL this, Dr. Callahan somehow managed to find the time to write his first book, entitled "What in the World is Christian Stewardship?" Dr. Callahan's education rocketed upon graduating from Covington High School, and continued at Southeastern Louisiana University of Hammond, Louisiana, Elkins Institute of Broadcasting of New Orleans, Louisiana; receiving a Masters of Theology from the Christian Bible College of Louisiana; and a Doctorate of Divinity Degree from Survine Bible College and Seminary of Denver Colorado. But, most important, he has a B. A. Degree in Christianity, issued by JESUS!!!
